Grande Prairie Storm defencemen claim weekly AJHL honours

Two Grande Prairie Storm defencemen were given AJHL top honours this past week.

Matthew Gillard was selected as the AJHL’s Top Player of the Week, (November 25 – December 1) as he had the most points in the league for that span; tallying four assists over their two road losses.

Storm Captain Logan Cunnigham was also selected for a weekly award, taking home the Defensive Player of the Week. He and Gillard have guided the Storm to the fewest goals against total in the AJHL with 57, while he added a goal and two assists over the weekend.

Camrose Kodiaks forward Liam Payne took home the AJHL’s third and final weekly honours, as he was named Rookie of the Week.

They will take on Drayton Valley and try to get back in the win collum after dropping four of their last five. Face-off time is 7 p.m.
