Hockey, skiing, curling this weekend

Storm

The Storm have two home games this weekend.

They will host home to Drayton Valley Friday and Saturday. Face-off will be at 7 p.m. both nights.

The Storm are tied with Whitecourt for first in the North Division with 34 points. Grande Prairie does have a game in hand.

Whitecourt is home to Lloydminster Friday and Saturday.

NWJHL

There are three games in the Northwest Junior Hockey League Friday.

Sexsmith will visit the County wheat Kings, Fairview in Fort St. John and Beaverlodge in Peace River.

On Saturday, the Wheat Kings are in Beaverlodge.

All those games start at 8 p.m.

Also Saturday, Dawson Creek in La Crete starts at 7 p.m. ‘

Sunday, Fairview in Beaverlodge starts at 2 p.m. Sexsmith in Fort St. John starts at 3 p.m. Dawson Creek in La Crete will start at 1:30.

NPHL

In the North Peace Hockey League Friday, High Prairie is in Fox Creek and Manning in Valleyview.

Saturday, Grande Prairie in Spirit River, Falher in Manning, Valleyview in Fort St. John and Fox Creek in Dawson Creek.

Those games all start at 8:30 p.m.

Thursday night, Spirit River beat visiting Fort St. John 6-1

Skiing

Saturday will be opening day at Whispering Pines Ski Hill.

Hours will be 10-4 p.m.

The hill is also open the same hours on Sunday.

Nitehawk is open Friday from 5:30 to 9:30, 11-5 Saturday and Sunday.

The Tube Zone will be open all three days.

Curling

The Peace Curling Tour is in Peace River Friday through Sunday.

The final stop will be in Grande Prairie from January 17 to 19.

The Tour Championship takes place in Sexsmith January 31 to February 2.
