Piranhas swimmer set to compete for Canada at world short course championships
The World Aquatics Swimming Championships for short course pools starts Tuesday in Budapest, Hungary and a Grande Prairie Piranhas swimmer will be part of Team Canada.
Oliver Dawson was one of two rookies named to the team in September.
Dawson will compete in the heats for the men’s 200 metre breaststroke on Friday. At 16, he is seven years younger than the next-youngest competitors, and 14 years younger than the oldest in his heat.
Dawson won this same event at the Canadian Olympic trials in May and the Canadian Championships in July, where he also won the 50 metre breaststroke.
