Grande Prairie short-track speed skater going into first long-track competition

A Grande Prairie speed skater will be in his first long track national competition this weekend in Fort St. John.

Derian Boechler will be among those taking part in the 2024 Canadian Neo-Junior and Junior Long Track Championships. The competition starts today and will run through Sunday.

It is for athletes aged 14 to 17.

Boechler has won relay bronze medals at the Arctic Winter Games and Alberta Winter Games, but those both came in short-track racing.
