Suspected fentanyl found by business in Grimshaw

Dec 20, 2024 | 12:00 PM

Peace Regional RCMP are warning the public of the dangers of various street drugs after getting a report of an illicit substance found on the street in Grimshaw.

Mounties didn’t specify when, but on Friday December 20, they were called out to 56 Street in that community following a concern of an unknown, suspicious substance found near a business in the area.

Police officers seized 14.5 grams of suspected fentanyl from the location.

There are no suspects at this time for the drug that was found.

RCMP want the public to be aware that drugs can come in many different forms such as; powders, crystals, liquid, vapor, or pills.

Fentanyl can absorb through the skin or be accidentally inhaled. Health Canada estimates a lethal dose for the average adult is two milligrams, which visually looks like a few grains of salt.

If you are accidently exposed to fentanyl, please seek immediate medical attention.

The Peace Regional RCMP is asking for the public’s assistance with identifying the location, or sightings of drug activity in the area. You can contact the Peace Regional RCMP detachment by calling 780-624-6611, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers (1-800-222-8377 (TIPS), online at www.P3Tips.com, or by using the “P3 Tips” app available through the Apple App or Google Play Store).
