Beaverlodge author’s first book set at Christmas time

Dec 22, 2024 | 6:00 AM

A boy meets girl story set at Christmas is the first published work for a Beaverlodge author.

Kirsten Clark’s book is called A Christmas Cup of Joe.

Clark says, “it is a romance in an inspirational Christmas story kind of way.”

“Simon is our main character and he is definitely a lost soul. He has some deep losses he’s struggling to process.”

“Sandra is a woman with a deep faith and she showed up into his life and kind of transforms his life and shows him a way and he puts love back into his heart. She does as well. “

Clark says she has wanted to be an author for as long as she can remember and has been working at it seriously for almost seven years.

“And I just keep writing all of the time.”

“I wrote this book specifically for my publisher Pelican Book Group looking that they put out a selection of Christmas stories every year and I wanted to write about what would it be like for somebody to embody that true spirit of Christmas.”

Clark says she was buying plants this spring when she found out she had a contract for her Christmas story.

“It’s a very winter-based story. Simon is outside in the freezing cold and it’s almost like the cold is a character on its own that he’s kind of fighting against the elements in that way.”

“It definitely felt strange to be thinking about this Christmas story and to be doing edits on this Christmas story in July as it’s plus 30 outside, but I seemed to make it work.”

Clark says it its a “heartwarming and cozy” story to read around the Christmas tree. It is 60 pages long and is available only as an eBook or audio book through Pelican Book Group and other book sellers.

She adds she will keep writing as she has more stories to tell.
