Fairview RCMP arrest leads to 21 charges laid

Fairview RCMP received a call regarding a suspicious vehicle on 101 Avenue in that community on Monday, January 6 which led to two arrests.

Wesley Gordon Potratz, a 48-year-old Fairview resident had 20 charges laid against him:

  • Warrant (Fairview): Fail to attend court
  • Warrant (Fairview): Drive while unauthorized
  • Warrant (Fairview): Display improper licence plate
  • Warrant (Fairview): Operate motor vehicle without registration
  • Warrant (Fairview): Drive uninsured motor vehicle
  • Warrant (Fairview): Flight from police
  • Warrant (Fairview): Possession of break-in instrument
  • Warrant (Fairview): Two counts of failing to comply with a release order
  • Warrant (Fairview): Possession of property obtained by crime
  • Warrant (Fairview): Break-and-enter
  • Warrant (Peace River): Fail to attend court
  • Warrant (Peace River): Fail to comply with release order
  • Warrant (Grande Prairie): Fail to attend court
  • Warrant (Grande Prairie): Flight from police
  • Warrant (Grande Prairie): Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
  • Warrant (Grande Prairie): Two counts of possession of a controlled substance
  • Warrant (Grande Prairie): Two counts of failing to comply with an undertaking

Jordan Anderson a 37-year-old resident of Hines Creek had one charge laid against him; possession of property obtained by crime.

Both Anderson and Potratz were remanded into custody with a court date set for Monday, January 6.

Potratz has been wanted on a warrant issued by Fairview court since August 28, 2024.

He was charged after an incident on December 10, 2023.

RCMP said at the time that a report of suspicious activity at a business in Clear Hills County led to them finding two men on the property carrying hoses and jerry cans.

Both were arrested after trying to run away.

The other man charged, Stephen Saunders of Grande Prairie, was given two years probation after pleading guilty to three charges.
