Ground-breaking ceremony held for new Rising Above facility

Jan 8, 2025 | 2:11 PM

An addiction and mental health support not-for-profit in Grande Prairie hosted a ground-breaking ceremony for its new facility earlier in the week.

Sixty residents, including members of Grande Prairie City Council, attended the event to take part in the ceremony.

Rising Above debuted its new 36-bed recovery facility on Monday, January 6, which is already 65 per cent funded.

Rising Above said in a release they intend to have the entire “facility mortgage-free by the end of construction,” and are looking for community donations of any size to help them reach that goal.

Anyone wanting to support Rising Above can donate through their website.

Once construction is complete Rising Above said this facility will “expand our capacity to provide hope, healing, and support,” to those in Grande Prairie affected by addiction or mental health challenges.

Multiple Public Information Sessions centred around the new recovery facility are also being planned, with the first to take place today (Wednesday, January 8) at 7:30 p.m. at the Rising Above Ministry.
