Jan 9, 2025 | 9:36 AM

As of January 9, TELUS communications says customers in Northwest Alberta are experiencing a failure of wireline and wireless services in their network due to cable damages.

The damages were done by unassociated construction work in the Town of Valleyview in the afternoon of Wednesday, January 8.

Impacted services in Valleyview, DeBolt, Sturgeon Lake, Fox Creek, and Little Smoky are:

  • Home Phone
  • 911 Landline
  • Mobile data
  • Mobile text
  • Mobile voice

TELUS says in their latest update, that service technicians are on-site repairing the damages, but there is no estimated time for restoration of services.

The company says there is fallback coverage for 911 calls that can be provided by an alternate carrier in the region. If customers wish to enable the wireless fallback connection, make sure your device network is set to automatic and allow time for the connection to establish before retrying.
