High Level RCMP lay charges following seizure of firearms and suspected cocaine

High Level RCMP arrested five people Sunday, following reports of a firearm being discharged toward a house in the community.

At approximately 8:00 p.m. the RCMP and Crime Reduction United responded to the call, arrested three males and two females seized two firearms, approximately 50 grams of suspected cocaine and approximately 2800 unstamped cigarettes.

Twenty-nine-year-old Chateh resident Mateo Ahnassay, 46-year-old Jesse Lee Roger Chalifoux of Paddle Prairie, 24-year-old Savanna Chambaud-Chalifoux of Bushe River, 20-year-old Troy Damian Francis of Chateh, and 31-year-old Lethbridge resident Jamie Hollands had a variety of charges laid:

  • Pointing a firearm x 2
  • Discharge a firearm with intent x 2
  • Possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of firearm with tampered serial number
  • Possession/selling of unstamped tobacco
  • Unsafe storage of firearms x2
  • Possession of firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle x 2
  • Using a firearm in the commission of an offense
  • Unauthorized possession of a prohibited/restricted weapon x 2
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition easily accessible
  • Possession of restricted/prohibited weapon with ammunition without license x 2

Ahnassay was also charged with mischief under $5000, while Francis is facing a charge for failure to comply with probation under orders.

All five suspects were brought before a justice of the Peace, with Ahnassay appearing in court Tuesday, January 14, while Francis and the others will appear in court Wednesday, January 15.
