County of Grande Prairie Council approves Clairmont Municipal Police Service Agreement

The County of Grande Prairie is on the way to securing a service contract with the RCMP for the Hamlet of Clairmont.

During their Monday meeting, County Council approved signing the Clairmont Municipal Police Service Agreement, permitting the County to establish the municipal RCMP in Clairmont, effective April 1.

Work setting up the agreement began in 2022, when the Province of Alberta provided Clairmont with an estimated population count of 5,135, requiring the County to provide policing services.

As part of the agreement, Council also approved $80,000 annually at final budget to support a Public Service Employee position to provide administrative support to the detachment.
