Alberta’s top baby names remain the same

The top baby names in Alberta from 2024 are the same ones that have held the title for the past several years.

Olivia and Noah are the provinces top baby names for the sixth consecutive year.

This will be year 12 that Olivia has held the top spot, which is a record.

The next longest reigning name was Ethan, at nine consecutive years between 2001 and 2009.

Charlotte, Amelia, Sophia, Emma and Ava were among the top five most popular names for baby girls, while Oliver, Liam, Theodore and Henry rounded out the top five choices for baby boys.

Some parents appeared to be inspired by the natural beauty of our province with names like Cedar, Hope, and Prairie.

Other parents seemed to take notes from mother nature and found inspiration from animals in names like Bear, Fox, Jaguar and Sora.

More than 50,000 births were registered in Alberta in 2024.
