City of Grande Prairie conducting winter thaw road maintenance

Jan 27, 2025 | 1:05 AM

The City of Grande Prairie is actively working to keep roads maintained and accessible during the warmer temperatures and the freeze-thaw cycle.

City crews are working to prevent any overflow or flooding by regularly monitoring drainage systems, clearing debris from catch basins, and deploying water trucks to address pooling as part of their efforts to ensure proper water flow and prevent any blockages caused by ice or snow.

Crews are also working to Identify and address potholes as they emerge.

They use various techniques including cold mix patching to provide immediate repairs for urgent concerns, hot recycled asphalt for more durable repairs during warmer periods, and infrared heater repairs to deliver long-lasting results.

The city says you can report issues like potholes at the City’s Access GP portal or their road maintenance page; you are asked to include the potholes’ location and size in the report.
