Grande Prairie woman wins $1 million

A Grande Prairie local is the city’s newest millionaire following a million-dollar win on the LOTTO MAX.

Janet Nett is one million dollars richer after scanning her tickets at a Lotto Spot retailer in GP and finding out about her new fortune.

She says the first person to find out about her big win was her husband, who she says “almost hit the ditch when I told him on the phone!”

Nett said she also told her mother, who lived in a senior facility Nett works at, and soon thereafter the whole workplace was informed about the lucky lottery winner.

“She was a blabbermouth and told everyone!”

Janet plans on getting a house, planning for retirement with no debt, and getting two reliable vehicles with her winnings.

“It’s a great start to the next chapter!”

She is also preparing to go back to school, and the windfall came at the perfect time as she was looking for a transition out of her current career path.

She also wants to travel with her partner.

“We’ve got a family vacation planned to Hawaii… we’re thinking of Singapore next!”
