Extreme cold warning rescinded

Feb 5, 2025 | 1:41 PM

The extreme cold warning for the Peace Region and much of Alberta has now been rescinded by Enviroment Canada.

Throughout the extreme cold warning, temperatures in Grande Prairie averaged at minus 30 without the windchill.

Grande Prairie was also the coldest place on Earth, on Tuesday, February 4, at 9 a.m., with a temperature of minus 39, minus 44 with the windchill.

Despite this extreme cold front, Grande Prairie still didn’t break its coldest temperature record, which was set in 1950, recording a temperature of minus 50.
