No doctor at Beaverlodge emergency department starting Wednesday morning

Alberta Health Services says the emergency department at the Beaverlodge Municipal Hospital will be without a doctor from 8 a.m. Wednesday until 8 a.m. Thursday.

AHS says virtual emergency physician coverage may be used for part or all of this disruption. This idea has a physician who is not on site but is an experienced emergency doctor to provide support remotely.

Nursing staff will be on-site to do triage and assessments. 911 calls will be rerouted to other facilities.
