Peace River RCMP on scene of serious collision

2ND UPDATE on February 10, 2025 – Peace Regional RCMP have found through their investigation so far, that a stationary semi-truck was hit by a pick-up truck.

The driver of the pick-up truck was transported to hospital via EMS with non-life threatening injuries after being extracted from their vehicle. The semi-truck driver was unharmed.

RCMP in Peace River would like to extend gratitude to community members who stepped up to assist, and were patient with the extended road delays due to this collision.

Peace Regional RCMP would also like to reach out to anyone who may have witnessed the collision, who have not yet spoken to RCMP, or who may have dashcam footage of the collision, to contact their detachment at 780-624-6611.

1ST UPDATE on Saturday February 8, at 4:15 p.m.: Police now say they are clear of the scene and normal traffic flow has resumed.

ORIGNAL RELEASE on Saturday February 8, at 1:30 p.m.:

Peace River RCMP say they have been called out to a serious collision in Northern Sunrise County Saturday afternoon.

Mounties say it happened on Highway 688 between Township Roads 844 and 845. Traffic on Highway 688 in both directions is being redirected.

Other details like what time the crash happened and how many vehicles are involved were not released.

Police say there will be updates issued later.
