Koe wins Alberta men’s curling championship

Kevin Koe’s team will represent Alberta at this year’s Brier.

The former Grande Prairie resident and his team from Calgary beat the Evan Van Amsterdam rink from Edmonton 9-7 in Sunday’s final.

The Koe side had deuces in the first, third, fifth and ninth ends. Van Amsterdam’s team had deuces in the second, eighth and tenth ends.

Van Amsterdam’s rink had advanced to the final after beating the Daylen Vavrek team from Sexsmith 5-1 in the semi-final Sunday morning.

Jason Ginter and Sterling Middleton, both originally from the B.C. Peace, are on the Van Amsterdam squad.

The 2025 Brier will take place February 28 through March 9 in Kelowna.
