GPCSD ratifies agreement with UNIFOR Local 328

Grande Prairie & District Catholic Schools has announced the ratification of a new four-year deal with the union representing approximately 300 support staff.

UNIFOR Local 328 passed the Memorandum of Agreement at a general meeting on February 5, with the GPCSD School Board following suit February 6.

The agreement retroactively goes from September 1, 2024 to August 30, 2028 and provides employees with a 3 per cent wage increase a year and enhances the work week for education assistants.

GPCSD Deputy Superintendent Greg Miller says the board’s working relationship with UNIFOR allowed them to come to an agreement that will benefit everyone involved.

UNIFOR Local president Darryl Theisen says they are pleased how quickly the agreement was reached and they believe this is a step in the right direction ensure members receive fair and equitable compensation.
