Extreme Cold Warnings in place for Family Day long-weekend

Feb 15, 2025 | 4:13 PM

Environment Canada has issued extreme cold warnings for most of Alberta, including the Peace Country.

Wind chills from -40 to -45 are expected overnight Saturday with a projected low of -31.

These wind chills are expected to moderate somewhat during daytime hours, but will be continuing early into next week, with lows not expected above -19 until Wednesdays at the earliest expected.

The weather office is advising people to cover up as frostbite can occur within minutes in these conditions.

The warnings take in almost all of Alberta, with the most eastern cities currently without an extreme cold warning, except for the Grande Prairie area.
