GP-RAVO shares statement on looming closure

Feb 24, 2025 | 12:48 PM

The Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations has put out a statement, after its sudden announcement last week that they would be ceasing operations.

Late on Thursday, February 20, GP-RAVO made the announcement and thanked the public for their support during its time of operation.

In today’s release, no new information was given on the closure, just that “the board of directors made the difficult decision to close the organization,” after an “extensive deliberation.”

They also noted that board members or staff from the organization, are not available for comments at this time.

GP-RAVO will fully cease its operations on Friday, February 28.

The full statement from GP-RAVO can be seen below:

The Grande Prairie Regional Association of Volunteer Organizations (GP-RAVO), formerly the Grande Prairie Volunteer Services Bureau, will cease operations as of February 28, 2025. Established in 1969, GP-RAVO has served the Grande Prairie region for over 55 years, supporting volunteer organizations and community stakeholders.
GP-RAVO has provided valuable services to the community, including connecting volunteers with organizations, offering professional development opportunities, facilitating networking groups, and advocating for the region’s volunteer and non-profit sectors. After extensive deliberation, the board of directors made the difficult decision to close the organization.
GP-RAVO wishes to express its sincere gratitude to the community, its funders, and its members for their decades of support. The organization acknowledges the significant contributions of its staff, volunteers, and partners throughout its history.
