Bosch resigns from council to take chamber of commerce job

Feb 25, 2025 | 2:26 PM

Grande Prairie city councillor Wendy Bosch has resigned to take the chief executive officer job with the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce.

Bosch replaces Tanya Oliver, who is now the director for the Side Family Centre for Entrepreneurial Excellence at Northwestern Polytechnic.

Bosch was in her first term on council and had also been the executive director of the Downtown Association for the past six years.

“I look forward to working with our business community and stakeholders to support sustainable growth and retention within the region. Small business is the foundation of employment and economy,” says Bosch in a news release from the chamber.

“I am honored to join the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce, known for its commitment to excellence through business support, advocacy, education, community connections and engagement,” added Bosch in that same release.

In a statement from city hall, Mayor Jackie Clayton thanked Bosch for her service and praised her for helping council with things like the new Grande Prairie Police Service and the Health Care Attraction and Retention Strategy.

Clayton’s entire statement appears below.

On behalf of City Council and the residents of Grande Prairie, I want to sincerely thank Councillor Wendy Bosch for her service. She has been a trusted colleague and advocate for economic and community growth.

During her time on Council, Wendy has helped advance key Council initiatives, including the transition to the Grande Prairie Police Service, the Health Care Attraction and Retention Strategy and strengthening our city’s reputation as a premier events destination by hosting major competitions like the 2024 Alberta Winter Games, the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships and the upcoming Special Olympics.

While we will miss Wendy at the Council table, we know she will continue to serve our community as CEO of our valued ally, the Grande Prairie & District Chamber of Commerce.

Congratulations, Wendy! We look forward to working with you in your new role and wish you every success.
