New mural in Art Gallery of Grande Prairie painted by Comp. students

A collaborative, artistic vision has come to life in the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie.

Students at the Grande Prairie Composite High School, under the guidance of their art teacher Mrs. Mapp, got the opportunity to prove their skills through painting a mural in the art gallery’s classroom.

Students got the chance to work with the art gallery’s team to design their mural, conceptualizing, sketching, refining, and then bringing it to life.

The colourful mural shows a tree with flowers, birds, greenery, fruit and more natural elements.

The Grande Prairie Public School Division says this project “highlights the power of art to engage youth, foster collaboration, and create meaningful connections within the community. Through their work, students were able to express their artistic voices, develop new skills, and leave a lasting mark on a space dedicated to creativity and learning.”

The school division would like to thank the Art Gallery of Grande Prairie for the opportunity they gave students to contribute to the professional art space, and will be viewed by visitors for years to come.
