High Level RCMP member assault investigation concludes

Mar 7, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) has completed its investigation into an allegation of assault against a member of the High Level RCMP detachment.

On May 11 2022, an RCMP officer attempted to arrest three males at the Flamingo Inn for being intoxicated in a public place when one suspect actively resisted.

A physical altercation ensued, during which the officer struck the suspect with her knee and fist multiple times, before another officer arrived and the suspect was placed under arrest.

The use of force by the officer was recorded by bystanders. While no serious injury was caused, the Director of Law Enforcement directed ASIRT to investigate.

ASIRT has concluded that the officer acted properly in the execution of her duties and there is no evidence to support any belief she or another officer engaged in any unlawful or unreasonable conduct.

ASIRT says the investigation is complete and the file has been concluded.
