NPHL Game 7, Storm games highlight weekend sports schedule

NPHL

One semi-final in the North Peace Hockey League playoffs is going to a Game 7.

Spirit River is in Manning Friday night. Face-off at 8:30 p.m.

The Rangers forced Game 7 with a 5-3 win at home in Game 6 Thursday night.

The series winner moves on to play Falher in the NPHL final.

Storm

The Storm host Fort McMurray twice this weekend.

The first game is Friday at 7 p.m. with the second game set to get going Saturday at 6 p.m.

The second-place Storm are a point up on third-place Lloydminster, but with two games in hand.

The Bobcats host Devon Friday night in their lone game this weekend

Whitecourt has clinched first place in the North Division.

NWJHL

The Northwest Junior Hockey League play-offs resume Saturday with Beaverlodge in La Crete.

Face-off at 7 p.m.

The Lumber Barons lead the series 3-2.

Game 7, if needed, is set for Sunday at 1:30 p.m. also in La Crete.

Curling

Teams from High Prairie and Peace River will be at a men’s qualifier for the Alberta Curling Club Championship this weekend in High Prairie.

Games are set for 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and, if needed, at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Ski Hills

Nitehawk ski hill is open Friday until 8 p.m. and from 11-5 Saturday and Sunday.

The Tube Zone will be open Friday from 6 to 8 and 2:30 to 4:30 Saturday and Sunday.

The Nitehawk Alpine Ski Team will host its U12 Frozen Moose Provincial Race Saturday and Sunday.

Whispering Pines Ski Hill, Spring Lake Ski Hill and the Little Smoky Ski Area are open Saturday and Sunday from 10-4 p.m.

Misery Mountain is open from 4-9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Fairview Ski Hill is now closed for the season.
