Applications open for NWP’s new Social Work diploma

Mar 11, 2025 | 12:15 PM

Northwestern Polytechnic’s new Social Work Diploma program has been approved and is now accepting applications.

The two-year program prepares graduates to become registered social workers in Alberta and pursue careers with government agencies, healthcare centres, schools, and non-profit organizations.

The program was made possible through the Mental Health Professions Enrolment Expansion Grant from the province.

Provost and Vice-President at NWP, Dr. Terry Kowalchuk says launching this new program reflects the institutions commitment to meet the evolving needs of the community.

Dean of the School of Applied Science and Technology, Dr. Julia Dutove says the program’s graduates will be well-prepared to step into meaningful and impactful roles across Alberta.

Prospective students wanting to join the Fall 2025 cohort of the program can learn more by visiting NWP’s website.
