PRSD raising Treaty 8 and Metis flags in recognition of Truth and Reconciliation

Peace River School Division is restating their commitment to Truth and Reconciliation with flag-raising ceremonies March 12 & 13.

The Treaty 8 flag and the Metis flag will be raised at Fairview Jr./Sr/ High School today at 12:30 p.m., at E.E. Oliver Elementary School today at 1:45 p.m., and at the PRSD Central Operations building in Grimshaw tomorrow at 8:15 a.m.

All these ceremonies are expected to take place inside due to expected snowfall.

PRSD is holding these ceremonies to recognize the importance of upholding treaty relationships and remember the harm caused by residential schools in Alberta and across Canada.
