New roles for two Peace Country MLAs

Mar 20, 2025 | 2:43 PM

Two MLAs from the Peace have been given some new responsibilities by Premier Danielle Smith.

Both GP-Wapiti MLA Ron Wiebe and Grande Prairie MLA Nolan Dyck have been sworn in as parliamentary secretaries.

Wiebe is now the Parliamentary Secretary for Rural Health (North) and will report to Minister of Health Adrianna LaGrange.

In a release from the province, Wiebe says the government “is working hard to ensure all Albertans have access to the health care they need, when and where they need it.”

Dyck is the new Parliamentary Secretary for Indigenous and Rural Policing and will report to Minister of Public Safety and Emergency Services Mike Ellis.

In that same release, Dyck says public safety is what he calls “the first order of government.”

“Our government has been working hard to ensure all Albertans feel safe in their communities, and members of police services feel supported in their work.”

That release also says that parliamentary secretaries help work on government priorities and act as assistants to the ministers.
