Spring has officially sprung

Spring is officially here.

The vernal equinox happened at 3:01 a.m. Alberta time Thursday March 20.

The Old Farmer’s Almanac says this is the moment when the sun crosses what is known as the celestial equator, an imaginary line above Earth’s equator, going north.

The equinox also means that daylight and darkness hours are roughly equal.

The spring forecast from The Weather Network is calling for below normal precipitation and near normal temperatures in the Peace Country.

The network also says there could still be some wintery conditions in March and April.
