The County of Grande Prairie says crews responded to a report of a structure fire in Clairmont Saturday night at the Motel 6.

Twenty-three firefighters from the Dunes, Clairmont, Sexsmith, and Wembley stations responded to the call with two ladder trucks, an engine, and a heavy rescue unit. Other first responders such as RCMP, Regional Enforcement, and EMS also attended the scene.

Crews found smoke on the third and fourth levels of the building and a fire in a room on the third floor.

The structure’s sprinkler system was able to contain the blaze and allowed crews to extinguish the flames in a quick manner.

Hotel patrons were relocated for the night. The county says there were no injuries reported as a result of this incident.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
