Analysis shows drop in “injury collisions” in Grande Prairie arterial roads

Mar 31, 2025 | 3:37 PM

The City of Grande Prairie is reporting a decrease in collisions causing injury on four arterial routes.

The City is crediting the drop in collision-related injuries to its decision to lower the posted speed limit along 100 Street, College Bypass, 108 Street and 100 Avenue.

From 2017 to 2019 there were 294 “injury collisions” across the roadways, but from 2020 to 2023, that number fell to 130.

The overall rate of collisions has decreased by as much as 60 per cent when adjusted for traffic volumes.
