Farmland values continue to increase says FCC

Farm Credit Canada says the national average increase in farmland value was up 9.3 per cent in 2024.

That was lower the one from 2023, but still ahead of the five-year average of 8.6 per cent and the 10-year average of 9.1 per cent.

The increase for Alberta came in at 7.1 per cent. Saskatchewan had the highest increase at 13.1 per cent followed by BC at 11.3 per cent.

Pastureland values went up 4.6 per cent in Alberta and 1.1 per cent in BC.

In the Peace, the per cent change was 10.5 per cent on the Alberta side. Land was valued at an average of $3100 per acre with prices ranging from $1800 to $4400.

For the Peace-Northern area of BC, the increase was 16.1. per cent with an average per acre price of $2400. The value range was $1300 to $3600.
