This is a candidate profile for the April 28, 2025 federal election.

Advance voting days are April 18, 19, 20 and 21. More info here.

Why are you running to be a Member of Parliament?

1.) I’m running because I want to make life more affordable for people in Grande Prairie. Everyone should have a fair shot at owning a home, getting good health care, and building a future right here. No one should have to choose between utilities and feeding their family. The NDP will help first-time home buyers find affordable places to live, and we’ll fix gaps in health care—like bringing in more doctors and making sure things like prescriptions are covered with universal pharmacare. I want to help small businesses grow, because they keep our local economy strong. Additionally, by supporting small businesses and promoting diverse industries, we can reduce our reliance on a single sector and create sustainable employment opportunities. It’s time for leadership that puts people first. The NDP party is a party about common-sense solutions and getting the job done and that’s why I am proud to be their candidate.

Why should people vote for you, and what skills do you have that make you suitable for this role?

I know this community—I grew up here, I’ve worked here, and I care deeply about its future. As a Métis woman from this region, I’ve helped people start businesses, buy homes, and now I work with students who are shaping tomorrow. I understand the frustration of leaving the region for training, only to return and face new challenges. I’ve been an advocate, a policy builder, and a community partner. I’ve worked with stakeholders, educated others, and always focused on real solutions. I believe in finding common ground—because we’re more alike than different— I know that strong communities are built when we lift each other up. I believe in a vibrant, affordable future for Grande Prairie, where families can thrive, small businesses grow, and no one is left behind. I believe that together we get things done—and I’m ready to get to work with you.

What will you advocate for; and do you intend to fully toe the party line?

I chose to run for the NDP because their values reflect my own—fairness, respect, and putting people first. The NDP was built by workers and everyday citizens who wanted a better deal, and we need one more now than ever. That’s exactly what I’ll fight for. I believe we must listen to those on the ground—Grande Prairie is full of knowledge-keepers, advocates, and hard-working people already pushing for change. They need a federal partner who shows up and supports them. I’ll advocate for affordable housing, stronger health care, good jobs, and support for small businesses. Following the NDP’s principles comes naturally because they align with what our community needs, as well as my own values. However, my first responsibility will always be to the people of this riding. I am your voice in Ottawa, and I will always put Grande Prairie first.

How do you believe Canada’s federal government should tackle its current predicament with the United States, and where do you sit on Canadian sovereignty?

I believe Canada needs to stand up for itself and protect what makes us strong. I hear from people that they are ready to do what it takes to protect Canadian sovereignty—and I stand with them. Being Canadian means something. We’ve worked hard for our identity, and the world respects us because of our values and who we are. It’s frustrating that the U.S. has pushed us into this situation, but the NDP and I believe it’s time to act. We will build important projects that are ready to go, get more affordable homes built, and help local businesses grow by making more products here in Canada. We need to start redirecting our resources to benefit Canadians first, while also building fair trading partnerships with new markets around the world. While we do this, we’ll make sure Canadians are supported through lower taxes and strong worker protections.
