Temperature records broken on Sunday

Environment Canada says the daily temperature high broke records in some communities in the Peace on Sunday.

The high reached 17.9 degrees in Grande Prairie, breaking the old record of 16.9, set in 2006.

The temperature climbed to 18.6 in Beaverlodge, nudging past the old record of 18.1, also set in 2006.

Slave Lake reached a new record high of 19.4 degrees. The old record, set in 1955, was 18.9.

The high temperature recorded in Red Earth Creek on Sunday was 20.6 degrees, smashing the old record of 16.3 set in 2005.

Temperature records that had stood since 1977 were broken in Dawson Creek and Fort St. John on Sunday.

Dawson Creek’s high was 20.1, ahead of the old record of 20.0. Fort St. John reached 18.5. The old record was 17.3.
