Two suspects in RCMP custody thanks to public reports

Apr 8, 2025 | 7:00 AM

RCMP apprehended two suspects last week, thanks to help from the public.

On Thursday, April 3, both Peace Regional and Fairview RCMP received “multiple reports” about a suspicious blue truck towing a trailer; after a failed vehicle theft took place earlier in the day in Peace River, involving a blue pick-up.

As a result, RCMP tracked the suspect vehicle throughout the day, thanks to the public’s assistance.

Mounties first attempted a traffic stop in Hines Creek, but the suspect truck fled. The trailer was then later found abandoned.

The truck was found for the last time on an oilfield road near the BC border.

Both suspects fled on foot but were tracked down by Fort St. John RCMP and Police Dog Services, and taken into custody.

One of the suspects did manage minor injuries while trying to flee police dogs but was taken to a hospital to be treated.

Christian Singer, a 39-year-old Keg River resident received seven charges and was remanded into custody with a court date set for April 7:

  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
    • Flight from police
    • Driving while prohibited
    • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
    • Two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000
    • Driving while uninsured

Kristen Letendre, a 42-year-old resident of Loon Lake had three charges laid, and was released with a court date set for April 23:

  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Two counts of possession of stolen property over $5,000

In the release, Mounties clarified that “the suspects found in possession of the stolen vehicle are not believed to be those who attempted to steal the pickup truck in the Peace Regional RCMP detachment area.”

As a result, the investigation regarding the attempted vehicle theft in Peace River is still ongoing.
