Fire Advisory in effect for County of Grande Prairie

Apr 15, 2025 | 2:35 PM

Effective as of 3 p.m. today (Tuesday, April 15), the County of Grande Prairie and MD of Greenview have issued a fire advisory.

That includes the towns of Beaverlodge, Sexsmith and Wembley.

This was put into effect due to “current and forecasted weather conditions and increased dry grass hazards throughout the region. “

During the advisory, existing burn permits are still valid and safe campfires for cooking and warmth are also still permitted. However, new permit requests will be “evaluated over the coming days, on a case-by-case basis.”

Residents are also reminded to never burn if winds exceed 12 km/h.

Landowners are encouraged to once again check their winter burn piles to confirm they are still extinguished.
