MINISTER LOEWEN MISSION

Alberta attending assembly of International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation

Apr 24, 2025 | 11:44 AM

Alberta is becoming the first North American member of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation, and Todd Loewen, Minister of Forestry and Parks, is visiting Qatar to make it official.

While in Doha, Qatar, Loewen will attend the 71st General Assembly of the International Council for Game and Wildlife Conservation and highlight Alberta as a hunting destination in an effort to boost the province’s outfitting industry, support jobs and connect with global partners to exchange knowledge on wildlife management and conservation.

“Alberta is world-famous for hunting, fishing and outdoor adventure,” says Loewen. “Joining this international group shows the strong conservation work happening here and opens new doors to share what we’re doing – and learn from others, too.”

After the conference, Loewen will travel to the United Kingdom to meet with experts on human-wildlife conflicts and promote Alberta hunting opportunities in Europe.

He will be joined by one government employee and mission expenses will be posted online.
