PRSD Board announces Dixonville School closing Jun. 30

The Peace River School Division has announced the closure of Dixonville School.

At a special meeting held Monday, the PRSD Board of Trustees voted to close the school effective June 30 2025, and transport the remaining students to Grimshaw Public School.

The division says decision was made following careful consideration of factors such as declining enrollment, long -term sustainability, and feedback from the Dixonville community.

PRSD Board Chair Crystal Owens says they made this decision because they believe it is in the best long-term interests of all students within the division.

The board is extending its gratitude to the dedicated staff, students and parents who have contributed to the school over the years and say they are committed to a smooth transition in the 2025-2026 school year.
