Fire Ban

Fire ban in the County of Grande Prairie

May 5, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The County of Grande Prairie says a fire ban will be in place as of 8 a.m. on Monday, May 5.

It will replace an earlier fire restriction issued on April 30.

The Towns of Sexsmith, Wembley and Beaverlodge are included in the ban.

No new fire permits are being issued and existing ones are revoked.

All outdoor burning, including recreational fire pits, open pit burning, burning barrels, and burning brush piles and stubble are prohibited.

Open pit flaring is also suspended for industry.

The county says the ban is being put in place because of the dry conditions and because several fires started over the weekend.

The county says the ban will stay in effect until conditions improve.
