Grande Prairie RCMP arrest Dawson Creek resident following discovery of illegal drugs

Grande Prairie RCMP arrested a Dawson Creek resident on Saturday after reports of a vehicle with a stolen license plate.

On May 3, Mounties received a call regarding the vehicle, later determined to be stolen, with a stolen plate, in the area of Crystal Ridge.

Upon arrival, officers saw a male suspect get into the vehicle and attempt to drive off before being stopped. The suspect briefly ran away before being taken into custody.

A search of the vehicle and the residence the suspect was seen leaving resulted in the seizure of the following:

  • 2.6 kilograms of ketamine;
  • 13.5 grams of fentanyl;
  • 2.1 grams of methamphetamine;
  • 10.3 grams of cocaine;
  • 3 capsules of MDMA;
  • A pill press, along with other drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Forty-one-year-old Daniel Davidsen of Dawson Creek is facing 11 charges:

  • Possession of a stolen vehicle;
  • Possession of a stolen licence plate;
  • Assault on a police officer with a weapon;
  • Assault on a police officer;
  • Resist arrest;
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle;
  • Operate a motor vehicle while prohibited;
  • Fail to comply with release order; and
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (x3).

Davidsen was remanded into custody and will appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Grande Prairie May 12.
