Town of Grimshaw celebrates volunteers at National Volunteer Week event

May 6, 2025 | 1:28 PM

As part of National Volunteer Week last Thursday, the Town of Grimshaw held an event recognizing the contributions of volunteers.

Mayor Wendy Walk kicked off the event at the Grimshaw Legion by sharing her appreciation for the volunteers that help make Grimshaw a close-knit community.

The event saw members of the Grimshaw and Lac Cardinal Country Fire Departments honoured in a special presentation and presented individually with a token of appreciation.

Fire Chief Lawrence Arnold said it was meaningful to be celebrated in front of the community.

The event also included a tribute to long time resident and volunteer George Bolkoway, who passed away recently and who’s memorial was held last Friday.

Mayor Wald says Bolkoway was the Wayne Gretzky of volunteers, and he will be missed dearly.
