Province-wide Alberta Emergency Alert system test

A province-wide Alberta Emergency Alert system test will be conducted today at 1:55 p.m. (Wednesday, May 7).

The Alberta government says this is being done as part of Emergency Preparedness Week, and the test will be broadcast on TV, radio, websites, social media and compatible phones.

According to the province, these tests are important after the recent wildfires in the Peace region; Deer Ridge Estates fire and the Sturgeon Lake First Nation fire.

As of Monday night, the Deer Ridge Estates evacuation order has been lifted.
