Bonanza resident purchases winning Western 649 EXTRA ticket in Red Deer

A Bonanza local is taking home $100,000 after winning the EXTRA on the Western 649 April 9 draw.

Abie Aruna purchased her ticket from the Circle K on 22 Street in Red Deer.

Aruna said “I took it up to the cashier after I scanned it myself, thinking it couldn’t be true. ‘The cashier then said’ there are too many zeroes for this to just be $10,000.”

After realizing she had won, “I just laid down right there and said, ‘Thank you, Jesus!’”

Aruna plans to spend her winnings visiting family and giving back to the community.

“I’m going to take a trip to Africa to visit my dad who is undergoing surgery soon. I would also like to make a donation to the food bank to support the homeless because Canada has given me so much.”

Her winning numbers were 3287588,
