Grande Prairie RCMP investigation leads to two arrests

The Grande Prairie RCMP Special Investigative Unit (SIU) has made a pair of arrests, stemming from a sexual assault investigation.

Mounties say on Monday, May 5 they received a report of sexual offences against a youth, allegedly taking place between August and December of 2024.

With help from the Grande Prairie Caribou Centre, Mounties were able to investigate these allegations.

Thirty-year-old Julian Gonzalez of Grande Prairie had six charges laid against him:

  • Sexual exploitation
  • Two counts of sexual assault
  • Choking while committing an assault
  • Assault
  • Possession for the purpose of publishing child pornography

Twenty-three-year-old Kyle Pele also had sexual assault charges laid against him.

The pair were released from police custody on conditions and will appear in court on May 29.

At this time, Grande Prairie RCMP are continuing their investigation and do believe there could be more victims; if you or anyone you know have experienced “similar type incidents,” contact the Grande Prairie RCMP detachment at 780-830-5701 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS).
