May 23, 2025 | 9:00 AM

The Grande Prairie Fire Department says two families have been displaced following a fire that broke out Thursday morning in the Northgate area.

Crews were notified of the blaze around 9:00 a.m. in a two-storey building. Upon arrival, firefighters saw flames coming from the rear of the home up into the attic.

Three crews worked on exterior suppression, before checking other units to make sure the fire did not spread to other attics and to ensure everyone in the townhomes were evacuated safely.

All residents made it out of their homes without injury and two individuals were assessed on scene by EMS for smoke inhalation.

The two families that have been displaced from their homes through this incident have since secured temporary accommodations.

The GPFD says that citizens safety is their top priority and are ready, willing, and able to help whenever it is needed.
