The professional chuckwagon racing season kicked off Wednesday night out at Evergreen Park.

The World Professional Chuckwagon Association’s 46th running of the Grande Prairie Stompede had ideal conditions on the track for opening night.

Two-time Grande Prairie Champion Jason Glass ended up with the top time of the night with a penalty free-run time of 1:15.68.

Glass’ run was one one-hundredth of a millisecond ahead of defending Grande Prairie Champion Jamie Laboucane. Luke Tournier, Preston Faithful, and Obrey Motowylo rounded out the top five for the night.

The top driver in the aggregate after Saturday’s run will receive the Ralph Vigen Memorial Award and the use of a 2025 GMC Truck for one year, courtesy of Summit Fleet.

The top four drivers in the aggregate after Saturday night will be in the $40,000 Championship Final Heat on Sunday, where the winner will get a big winner’s cheque and become the 2025 Grande Prairie Stompede Champion.
