Escorted traffic allowed again on Two Lakes Road after wildfire

Jun 1, 2025 | 12:45 PM

Alberta Wildfire says a six hectare blaze that started in a log deck and trees 80 kilometres southwest of Grovedale is now being held.

Overnight firefighting operations mean this blaze is not expected to get any bigger under current conditions.

Officials say escorted vehicle passage is now allowed after the road was closed on Saturday.

The wildfire information office in the Grande Prairie Forest Area says the priority will be to help northbound traffic leave the area.

Southbound priority is being given to industry workers and public access may be limited. People are asked not to travel past the 2-124 kilometre marker going towards the provincial park.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is underway.
