Air Quality Warning blanketing Peace Region

An air quality warnings and special air quality statements for most of the Peace Region has been issued by Environment Canada due to a large amount of wildfire smoke.

The national weather office is warning of reduced visibility and potential health risk to people spending too much time outside.

People most likely to impacted by the smoke include people aged 65 and older, pregnant people, young children, people with existing conditions, and people who work outdoors.

Residents are being advised to limit their time outdoors whenever possible and to use respirator type masks outside to help limit the exposure to fine particles.

While indoors, residents are advised to keep their windows and doors closed as much as possible and use a good quality air filter in their ventilation system or a certified portable air cleaner that can filter fine particles.
