County of Grande Prairie expands Kiskatinaw River fire evacuation alert area

Jun 3, 2025 | 6:51 PM

The County of Grande Prairie has expanded an evacuation alert that has been in place because of the Kiskatinaw River wildfire in B.C.

The alert now includes everyone north of Township Road 710 to Township Road 740 and east from the provincial boundary to Range Road 130.

The previous alert was for the area between Township Roads 710 and 732.

The fire has now grown to over 6500 hectares and is now five kilometres from the border.

The county says the BC Wildfire Service expects the blaze to get bigger as a wind of 50 kilometres an hour is in the forecast for Thursday, with the wind predicted to reach 60 kilometres an hour by Friday.
