Helping Hands food program moving to new location

Jun 3, 2025 | 7:00 AM

Local non-profit Helping Hands has temporarily paused operations after joining the Food Banks of Alberta.

Following Grande Prairie City Council’s decision in 2024 to fund a two-year food security pilot project, Helping Hands, a division of Northreach Society, was tasked with aligning food security initiatives, leading to their partnering with Food Banks Alberta.

As the only FBA member in the city, Helping Hands will transition from a food hamper model to a client-centred storefront model.

To facilitate this transition, Helping Hands has paused operations while they transfer to a larger warehouse on 98 Street.

No reopening date has been confirmed yet.
